Many may think that children need to be exposed to academics prior to going to school and while this doesn’t hurt, it is important to realize that there are other things that families can focus on to help prepare their children for school.
- Help them practice putting things in and taking things out of their backpack.
- Teach them that it’s okay to make mistakes.
- Give them opportunities where they can learn the importance of sharing and how it works.
- Read books together each night. This will help develop their vocabulary and they will benefit from quality time.
- Help them learn to ask for help.
- Help them learn how to wait patiently.
- Teach them how to put on their coat and other garments by themselves.
